Life Groups

We value community life at Good News Church. We truly want to always be 'large enough to server you but also small enough to know you'. A Life Group is like getting around the kitchen table for a chat with family and close friends over a cup of tea, where feel your part of the family. At a Life Group we have more freedom to get to know people and make friends in a safe warm and welcoming environment. Even though our weekend services meet some of those community family values, smaller groups are another great way of building community and being a family of faith, hope and love.

At a mid-week Life Group we encourage each other to discover the teachings of Jesus Christ through five minute portions of daily bible readings. These daily readings get you right into the life giving teachings of Jesus Christ and God's word. The short five minute readings are for five days of the week, Monday through Friday. God's word is there to help you truly discover life and life to the full. It's one of the ways in which we encourage people to be disciples of Jesus throughout the church family, to have a daily reading plan where you sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to him speak to you through his word. Even those who can't attend a Life Group are encouraged to take up the church wide daily devotional reading plan. It helps us all be on the same page - so to speak :-) .

We offer other tools and services to help you get the most out of your devotional reading such as the teaching the SOAP method.

Then once a week we come together to share questions, insights and thoughts from either the daily bible devotion plans or last weekends main message. Some of our Life Groups may focus on the weekend message and dig deeper in understanding and discuss how to apply it to their lives. It's also a time to just share what's happening in our lives, our joys and sorrows, or struggles and victories and build great friendships together. Members share the life of God with each other in community; helping each other on their spiritual journey as followers of Christ Jesus. If we are just starting out on our spiritual journey and have questions about Christ and the christian faith this a great space to get to ask those questions in a warm welcoming environment.

The ingredients of each life group works around having a good blend of W's.
  1. Warm Welcome
  2. Worship
  3. Word of God
  4. Work's & Witness
The groups meet in various places and times throughout the week from Cobh to Ballincollig. They take a 2 to 3 week break at Christmas and Easter, and 4 to 6 week break during the summer time in the month of August. If there is not one meeting near you maybe you might consider starting one, just ask our lead pastor about it.

Current copies of the devotional reading plan should be available at our main weekend services or ask a life group leader.
